Women’s Health Visits Annually
Supporting mothers, infants, and young children through critical stages of care.
Our programs
A pregnancy without enough support. A newborn struggling to thrive. A mother unsure where to turn. FOTCOH’s Women’s Health Initiative provides education, nutrition, breastfeeding support, and infant wellness care during the earliest and most critical stages of life.

For mothers and children in rural Haiti, limited access to prenatal care, nutrition support, maternal education, and infant health care can increase the risk of long-term health complications.
FOTCOH’s Women’s Health Initiative focuses on the critical “first thousand days,” from pregnancy through a child’s second birthday, when maternal nutrition, infant care, and early support can have a lasting impact on lifelong health.
The program also supports families facing severe childhood malnutrition, connecting children to nutritional intervention and treatment resources when they need them most.
Madeline’s Story
“Moms come to us believing their milk isn’t enough. They’re desperate to help their babies, but don’t always trust their own bodies. We teach them: breastmilk is powerful, and with support, they can do this. It changes everything.”
In rural Haiti, many new mothers face pressure, uncertainty, and limited access to maternal health support. Some feel ashamed to ask for help. Others turn to options like sugar water, not knowing it can harm their baby’s health.
One 19-year-old mother came to FOTCOH worried that breastfeeding would change her body. When her baby cried constantly, she began giving the infant sugar water, hoping it would help.
Nurses Madeline Jean and Cherline Lubin listened without judgment. They taught her how breastmilk supports a baby’s growth, development, and health, and helped her understand that with the right support, she could nourish her child.
Within weeks, her baby was growing, sleeping better, and smiling. This mother left with more than information. She left with confidence.
How FOTCOH Responds
FOTCOH provides prenatal and postnatal support, breastfeeding education, maternal nutrition guidance, newborn wellness care, vitamins for mothers and infants, and care for severely malnourished children.
Through resources like Medika Mamba, a therapeutic peanut-based food used to help treat severe malnutrition, FOTCOH helps children receive critical nutrition support. The program also distributes Days for Girls reusable menstrual health kits paired with education, helping women and girls manage their health with greater dignity and confidence.
The Results
Through education, nutrition support, and consistent care, FOTCOH helps improve health outcomes for mothers, infants, and young children.
