Care That Responds When Needs Can’t Wait

A fever. A wound infection. A sick child. In rural Haiti, “wait and see” can quickly become “too late.” FOTCOH’s Urgent Care program provides timely treatment for illnesses, infections, injuries, and acute health concerns throughout the year.

Urgent Care

Small Illnesses Can Quickly Become Serious

In rural Haiti, limited health care access means common illnesses and infections are often left untreated until they become severe. Coughs, fevers, wound infections, scabies, ringworm, and other urgent health concerns can quickly worsen without timely medical attention.

For many families, access to reliable urgent care can mean the difference between a manageable illness and a serious medical emergency.

Jeff Junior’s Story

Turned Away With Burns, Treated at FOTCOH

After 5-year-old Jeff Junior suffered severe burns, his family sought help at a local hospital. But because of limited staff and supplies, they were turned away.

With few options and his condition growing more urgent, Jeff’s family came to FOTCOH. Boyer, FOTCOH’s Country Director, and Dr. Frenel quickly stepped in to treat Jeff’s burns, manage his pain, and provide the care he urgently needed. After days of fear and uncertainty, Jeff’s mother wept with relief as her son finally received treatment.

Today, Jeff’s recovery is remembered as a powerful reminder of what reliable access to care can mean for a family in crisis.

How FOTCOH Responds

Providing Consistent Access to Urgent Care

FOTCOH’s Haitian medical team provides urgent care throughout the year, offering evaluations, treatment, wound care, medication, and follow-up support for patients facing immediate health needs.

This consistent access helps patients receive care before conditions worsen, improving recovery and reducing preventable complications. During Vital Health Clinic periods, Urgent Care pauses on two Fridays to support the larger clinic schedule.
